What We Do

Read Across Robeson

Read Across Robeson is a community literacy initiative organized by the Kiwanis Club to promote reading and educational engagement across Robeson County for second graders. The goal of Kiwanis Read Across Robeson is to foster literacy development, increase school readiness, and inspire lifelong learning in young readers. It reflects Kiwanis’ broader mission of serving children and improving communities through education and service. This project also allows each 2nd grader in Robeson County to receive a book.

Exceptional Children’s Christmas Social

The Kiwanis Exceptional Children’s Christmas Social is a joyful annual event that celebrates children with special needs and their families. Hosted by the Kiwanis Club, this heartwarming gathering features festive activities, holiday treats, music, crafts, and a special visit from Santa Claus. Each child receives a gift, and the event is thoughtfully designed to create a welcoming, inclusive, and magical holiday experience for all.

Take A Kid to A Game

“Kiwanis Take A Kid to A Game” is a community-oriented event organized by local Kiwanis clubs to provide underprivileged children with the opportunity to attend a sporting event. The goal is to offer kids a chance to experience the excitement and enjoyment of a live game that they might not otherwise be able to attend due to financial or other barriers. This event is part of the Kiwanis club’s broader mission to improve the lives of children and communities, focusing on providing opportunities that promote happiness, education, and positive experiences for youth.

Mac Start Clothing Closet

The “Mac Starke Clothing Closet” helps ensure that children have appropriate attire for school and daily life, allowing them to feel confident and ready to participate in educational and social activities. This program is part of the larger Kiwanis mission to help children and build stronger communities by addressing the immediate needs of families, especially those facing financial challenges through each elementary school counselor receiving a gift card to purchase clothing items for children.
